Preparations for the grand celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kasana-Luweero are in high gear.

 As one of the preparatory activities of the jubilee, the Christians of Kasana-Luweero diocese who work and reside in Kampala (and its neighbourhood) on Saturday (February 26) organized a get-together function at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Nsambya (in Makindye Division), during which they raised sh12m for the function.

The Christians, who fellowship under their umbrella organization, Bannakasana-Luweero Diocese in Diaspora Association (BALUDIDA), promised to donate even more cash to make the function successful.

The Chaplain of BALUDIDA, Fr. Hillary Muheeza, paid tribute to members of the association for their love, goodwill and commitment to the diocese.

The function was also graced by the Administrator of the diocese, the Very Rev. Msgr. Francis Xavier Mpanga, who also praised members of the association for promoting the Catholic Church’s policy of self-reliance through their active participation in the activities of the diocese.

 The Chairman of the jubilee organizing committee, Rev, Fr. Dr. Lawrence Kimbowa, expressed optimism for the success of the function.

“We still need money to pull off the function successfully. But we are confident we shall get everything we need because you people are deeply involved in the preparations. Your dedication is incredible. May God reward you,” Kimbowa said.

 The function was also graced by the Treasurer General of the diocese, Fr. Ponsiano Ssonko.

The grand celebration of the Kasana-Luweero diocese will take place at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cathedral, Kasana-Luweero (in Luweero district) on Sunday (March 6, 2022). 

The thanksgiving mass at 10:00am will be presided over by the Archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kampala, the Most Rev. Paul Ssemogerere.
