If there is one event wedding lovers should not miss this weekend, it is Vision Group’s Bride & Groom Expo at the UMA Show Grounds, running from June 26 to 28.
Among the standout exhibitors is Unik Bridals, whose elegant bridal gowns and striking runway models have become a major attraction, drawing crowds eager to admire the latest wedding fashion trends.

One of those captivated was Ahamed Wahidah from Jinja, who runs a bridal business and attended the expo in search of fresh ideas.
“These people are interesting. I have learnt new ways of beautifying my business,” she said.
Although she is not yet married, Wahidah says the expo has continued to inspire her. This is her third visit, and each year she discovers new businesses, builds valuable connections and leaves with fresh ideas. This year, however, it was the models who left the biggest impression.

“They are stunning and beautiful,” she said. For Unik Bridals CEO, Unia Kamya, the expo has been instrumental in growing the business over the past 17 years.
“We have gained tremendous visibility through the Bride & Groom Expo. Many people come to see us, and New Vision has played a big role in making that possible,” she said.
A runway to bigger opportunities
Beyond showcasing bridal fashion, the expo is also opening doors for aspiring models.

For 21-year-old Claire Katutu, a Bachelor of Hotel and Tourism Management and Leisure student at Makerere University Business School (MUBS), participating in this year's expo marks an important milestone in her modelling journey.
Katutu says appearing at the Bride & Groom Expo had always been one of her career goals. “When I joined the modelling industry, one of my dreams was to be part of the Bride & Groom Expo,” she said.

Although she auditioned to become one of the official New Vision expo models and was not selected, she refused to let the setback discourage her. Instead, she joined Unik Bridals as one of its runway models.
“Fortunately, I was able to join Unik Bridals, so I am here showcasing their bridal gowns,” she said.
Katutu believes the expo offers far more than a chance to walk the runway. It provides an opportunity to network with designers, photographers, modelling agencies and other industry professionals who could help shape her future.

“I am grateful to be here. You never know who you will meet at an event like this. I hope to make connections that will take my modelling career to the next level," she said.
Alongside runway modelling, Katutu is building her portfolio through commercial modelling and advertising work, remaining open to new opportunities.
“I am open to exploring different opportunities within the industry,” she said. As visitors admire the latest bridal collections, stories like Katutu's highlight another side of the Bride & Groom Expo, one that not only celebrates weddings but also creates opportunities for young talent to pursue their dreams.
