Weddings are a big celebration in Uganda in three major ways: culturally, spiritually and they bring society together to toast to two people who have chosen to become one.
However, these days, that toast may be short-lived because of divorce and separation.
According to data from the 2025 Family Division of the High Court, 1,307 divorce cases were presented in court. These cases point to the fact that marriage is under attack and needs concerted effort to put things aright.
As Vision Group gears up for the 17th Bride & Groom Expo on June 26-28 at Uganda Manufacturers’ Association showgrounds, part of its commitment is to support marriage as an institution.
Against that background, the expo has brought together resourceful experts in different fields who support marriage.
One such speaker is the popular Pastor Isaac Rwomushana of God is Good Outreach Ministries in Katale, Kampala, who has eloquently explained what a marriage needs to be successful.
“Poverty is tearing down marriage. Couples can’t communicate well and effectively when they are broke. They shout at each other and blame each other instead of discussing matters,” he opines.
Rwomushana has been known for preaching against staying in church all day and night. He holds strong views that support empowerment through hard work, saying God blesses the works of our hands.
Rwomushana says he has a lot to share at the expo, urging couples and the general public to work hard to attain financial stability and marital stability. The pastor, speaking excitedly about the expo, said: “It is going to be wonderful.
Those planning to wed, the married and all who aspire to get married; come to the Bride&Groom Expo and gain more insights.”
The expo caters for love in all its stages; straight from the onset, leading to marriage, the proposal, wedding, making a home and family, the expo’s theme encompasses it all.
Themed, Beyond I do: A journey of love, home and family, Vision Group’s marketing and communication manager, Lorraine Tukahirwa, said the expo will support “couples who seek end-to-end solutions beyond just the wedding day”.
With a plethora of service providers in the wedding industry — cakes, gowns, suits, jewellery, decoration, among others — the expo is a one-stop centre for one’s wedding needs.
And yet there is more; the expo will also have exhibitors and experts in finance, insurance, homes and wellness, which means it will offer an all-round package for love, home and family as well.
For an affordable fee of sh10,000 as the entrance fee, expo attendees will have much more than they envisaged within their grasp.
