Justine Mbabazi, the Wakiso Resident District Commissioner (RDC), has asked local leaders to stop interfering with their work and investigations.

“Please leaders, stop interfering with some of our work. The President gave us a directive to create a community security committee but some of you leaders are interfering with the President’s work,” Mbabazi said.

She made the remarks on Tuesday, May 6, while addressing the National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders from various parts of Wakiso district at Tori Gardens in Kajjansi Town Council, adding that if the local leaders continue interfering, they might end up facing it rough.

“There have been some cases that we have been working on but some of the local leaders have interfered with them because they have been bribed. If you ever interfere with our work, you will face it rough,” Mbabazi said.

She noted that land grabbing in Wakiso is at its peak, adding that what is worrying is that some of the leaders are spearheading the land grabbing in the district.

Mbabazi said that some of the government employees and leaders are extorting money from the locals so that they can benefit from the different government programs such as the Parish Development Model and Emyooga among others.

Vincent Kizito, the NRM chairperson for Kajjansi Town Council, assured the NRM party chairman Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of their full support in 2026 and asked him to fulfill the pledges he made to them while campaigning ahead of the 2021 general elections.

“There are some roads that the President promised will be worked on but since the end of the general elections, the road hasn’t been constructed and we have now remained speechless among our voters and the residents,” Kizito said, adding that even in the 62 cells, there is only one seed school.

Kizito appreciated the work done by the Government in some health centres, adding that they are still faced with the challenge of land grabbers that usually threaten to steal the hospital land.

He appealed to the Government to at least give a salary to village health workers.
