Producer and R&B singer Acidic Vokoz, alias Kakaire, has had a momentous two years since his breakthrough.

During a press briefing, Acidic Vokoz revealed his gratitude and narrated how tough the journey has been—from being blocked by an MC at one of the concerts before Sheebah Karungi to winning several awards and accolades in two years.

Early this month, singer Acidic Vokoz was one of the Ugandan artists that was nominated for the Kenyan-based East Africa Arts & Entertainment Awards (EAEA) in the category of ‘Best Breakthrough Act Uganda', and Acidic emerged as the winner of this award.

“Sitting in the hall in Nairobi, I felt it was a dream, and I can't count the number of times I pinched my skin to assure myself that what was happening was a reality. Having encountered several blockades from people with bad energy, I felt so overwhelmed with joy. To me, that seemed to be ‘living my dream, Acidic Vokoz reveals.

Among the other accolades that have come alongside music are the appointment of the singer as the ambassador for tourism and heritage by the Kyabazinga of Busoga Wilberforce Nadiope in 2023 and the trust that he has gained from the promoter.

Acidic has pledged not to behave like his predecessors, who ignored the support from the audience and downplayed the efforts of the management. He has promised to produce good music and raise the bar higher.
