President Yoweri Museveni has donated a tractor to Rwenjeru Agro-Tourism, Demonstration and Training Farm in Mbarara City. The fully equipped tractor was delivered to the farm last week.
Martin Kananura, the director of Rwenjeru Farm, hailed President Museveni for the donation, saying it will help the entire community.
Kananura vowed to use the donation to enhance the Government's broader strategy of boosting agricultural mechanisation and promote commercial farming in the Rwenjeru area and beyond.

“With this machinery, Rwenjeru Farm and the entire Rwenjeru community and other parts of this region will be able to transition from subsistence farming to the money economy, which the President has advocated for many years,” Kananura said.
Kananura, a retired headteacher who successfully transitioned into commercial agriculture and agro-tourism, was the grand winner of the Vision Group Best Farmers' Competition in 2023.
He established a profitable agriculture enterprise, which is also an educational hub for farmers and tourists located in Biharwe-Mbarara City, North division. The farm has over 200 head of cattle, 40 acres of banana plantation, and more than 150 goats and sheep.
The farm has attracted many high-profile visitors, including the King of Busoga, William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope IV, who visited the farm early this year. Several government officials, including ministers, have also visited the farm to get farming tips.
Kananura challenged the Rwenjeru community to make good use of the machinery and improve their farming projects. He thanked Vision Group, which he said marketed his farm globally through all its platforms, and vowed to continue supporting the long-term partnership he has with the media company to promote farming.

Kananura also thanked agriculture minister Frank Tumwebaze and Bright Rwamirama, the state minister for agriculture in charge of animal industry, who he said recently visited his farm and helped him to get the tractor.
Stephen Kashozi Tusimire, a resident of Rwenjeru and chairperson of the Rwenjeru Agro-Tourism, Demonstration and Training Farm, thanked the President for the donation, saying it will help farmers around the community to improve on production, especially of pasture for their animals. He urged residents in other areas beyond Rwenjeru to approach the farm and use the tractor.
