📸 KCCA holds ‘No Litter Day’ campaign

KCCA officials emphasised the need for proper waste segregation to support recycling and reduce environmental pollution. Residents were urged to separate biodegradable from non-biodegradable waste and to regularly clean their surroundings.

The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has today, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, conducted a major city cleaning initiative dubbed ‘No Litter Day’, under the theme “Build it, Use it, Empty it” with intensified efforts focused on the areas of Makerere Kivulu 1 and 2.

The exercise was spearheaded by the Minister for Kampala, Hajjati Minsa Kabanda, and the KCCA Executive Director, Sharifah Buzeki. The team kicked off the day’s activities at Constitutional Square, where they installed new “No Litter” signposts to encourage proper waste disposal and environmental responsibility.

The campaign route covered Shauriyako, Kisekka Market, and concluded at Makerere Kivulu, where the team actively participated in cleaning drainage channels, picking and sorting rubbish, and sensitising residents on the importance of maintaining a clean environment.
