Gen David Muhoozi’s mother to be buried Thursday

Kyomugyemo, who died on Monday (April 1) aged 87 at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, was the eldest in the family of four girls and two boys, according to her biography shared by her nephew, Lt. Michael Katungi.

Internal affairs state minister Gen. David Muhoozi’s mother, Edinance Rubakuuba, will be laid to rest at her family home in Kakiika, Mbarara City North Thursday.

Kyomugyemo, who died on Monday (April 1) aged 87 at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, was the eldest in the family of four girls and two boys, according to her biography shared by her nephew, Lt. Michael Katungi.

“She was witty, meticulously clean and very assertive. Her children made a good contribution to the country,” Katungi, who is also a member of the central committee of the Patriotic League of Uganda and its commissioner of external affairs, told New Vision Online.

“The Lord gives and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. Job 1:21. Farewell Aunt Mukulu. You lived a full life,” he added.

The late was born to Elphazi Karokora and Fridah Jegajengye. She went to Kazo Primary School, where she completed grade six. Rubakuuba then joined Duhanga Vocational Institute for a certificate course in Domestic Science.

She served as a matron at Kakoba Demonstration Secondary School, Ndejje Secondary School and Kako Senior Secondary School in Masaka.

It was in Kako Senior Secondary School where she met Jackson Rubakuuba and got married in 1962. They were blessed with nine biological children and raised more others.

Kyomugyemo lived a simple but purposeful and intentional life, according to family members. A church service was held at All Saints Cathedral in Kampala on Wednesday.

Speaker Among condoles with the family

Speaker of Parliament Anita Among sent her condolences to Gen. Muhoozi and the larger family of Mzee Rubakuuba upon the passing of the family matriarch.

“May the Lord grant you the strength to endure the pains that come with such a big loss, and may her soul rest in peace,” she posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday.
