Floods have cut off several roads in Karamoja.

Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) in a statement issued on May 2, 2024, issued a traffic advisory to road users following heavy rains that caused floods in the sub-region.

"UNRA wishes to inform road users that the following roads traversing the Karamoja sub-region have been cut off due to flooding. We appeal to road users to heed traffic advisories, exercise caution, and avoid using flooded roads section during this period," the statement read.

Karita - Alakas - Amudat road cut off at Dinduga km 39, motorists are advised to use Amudat - Alakas - Konyau - Asilong to Karita.

Apeitolim - Irii road is cut off at Losagan km 19.

Matany - Lokopo - Turtuko road is submerged at Turtuko km 25.

Alternative routes for both are Irriri - Nadunget - Ariamoi - Lopei - Lokicher - Turtuko - Apeitolim road.

Meanwhile, The access road at Chepsukunya is now open to traffic flow following emergency interventions.

A permanent bridge crossing is currently under construction as part of the Muyembe—Nakapiripirit road project. This development will alleviate flooding in this area.
