Thousands gathered for the annual convention of Namirembe Diocese at Cathedral Gardens in Kampala on Sunday, featuring prominent speakers, including South Ankole Diocese Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe, Kazo Archdeacon Ven Emmanuel Ssewannyana, and Geoffrey Kulubya.

During the event, Ssewannyana emphasised the importance of peace in preparation for the upcoming elections of the Namirembe Diocese bishop. He called upon the nominations committee to ensure transparency and fairness to enhance the diocese's well-being. He expressed hopes that the diocese's election process would avoid the chaos witnessed in other dioceses.

Ssewannyana also extended his call for peace to the realm of politics and marriage. He highlighted the challenges faced by couples, including poverty, adultery, and other issues, which have led to separations.

Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe encouraged Christians to use their resources wisely and maintain a positive outlook on life. He urged clergy members not to misuse church funds and emphasized the importance of using such funds exclusively for church purposes.

Namirembe Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, who has served the diocese for 14 years, expressed gratitude for his tenure and offered blessings to the congregation. The convention also featured prayers for Luwalira's future endeavours, led by Namirembe Mother’s Union president Rose Biingi Kawiso and Namirembe Christian Women’s Fellowship chairperson Gladys Kiragga.

The convention's theme was "There’s a wide open door for a great work here…….." from 1 Corinthians 16:9.
