The increasing cases of mob justice in Arua city have drawn the attention of the local leaders. Most cases are attributed to theft and other forms of criminality.

Kabila Ogono, the secretary for information in Arua Hill cell, Arua central division says perpetrators of the vice are people frustrated by poverty or are victims of the crimes.

He believes that if the people in West Nile are empowered economically, the region will transform into a peaceful community.

Marlon Avutia, the Mayor Ayivu division, in Arua city attributes mob action to a failed justice system, but encourages the public to learn how to report cases

Josephine Angucia, the police spokesperson West Nile describes the situation as alarming, and that the police is fully involved in operations to weed out the criminals.

Angucia urges people to embrace mechanisms of reporting suspected criminals other than taking the law into their hands.
