Namilyango College endowment fund pools sh300m

One year since it was launched, Dr Peregrine Kibuuka Namilyango College Endowment Fund has pooled over sh300m which is going to benefit the school’s needy students.

Last year (2023) the old boys and the Board of Governors of Namilyango College launched a charitable fund to help bright, but financially-challenged students continue with their studies.

The fund was named after Dr Peregrine Kibuuka, the school’s deceased former headteacher.

One year since it was launched, Dr Peregrine Kibuuka Namilyango College Endowment Fund has pooled over sh300m which is going to benefit the school’s needy students.

The fund will also help the administration to improve the school’s infrastructure and also, the welfare of the staff members.

This was revealed by the reigning head teacher of Namilyango College, Constantine Mpuuga, during the grand celebration of the school’s 122nd Anniversary that was held at the school in Mukono district on March 23, 2024.

The chairman of the Board of Governors, the Rev. Fr. Dr. Joachim Mugalu said the Board and the Old Boys are working even harder to increase the capital of the endowment fund to be able to assist more needy students.

He also unveiled plans to build more classroom blocks and also, to modernize the school’s ICT facilities.

In her message delivered for her by Hon. Nobert Mao, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja also promised to donate money to the fund.

The celebration started with a thanksgiving mass presided over by the Bishop Emeritus of Lugazi Catholic Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathias Ssekamaanya, who paid tribute to the alumni and the Board of Governors of Namilyango College for loving and supporting the school. He also thanked the Mill Hill Missionaries for founding the school.

Earlier before the thanksgiving mass, Bishop Ssekamaanya blessed the new dormitory block, which according to the school’s headteacher Constantine Mpuuga, accommodates 480 students.
