Namilyango College secured the boys' U-20 crown at the school’s Rugby finals with a scintillating 28-5 win over St. Mary College Kisubi.

The anchors were supreme in the big moments of the game although SMACK won a lot of the territorial battles.

They scored three big tries and they all came about because of errors from SMACK helped by the muddy pitch due to the heavy downpour at Makerere.

“It came down to being unlucky. In sports, there are three sides but in a final like this, you are either a winner or a loser. We did everything right but our opponents were so good and quick at countering every singer mistake we made and we conceded off of every single mistake we made but we shall get back stronger,” said Kisubi Coach Alvin Nsamba.

It was thoroughly upsetting for SMACK who were chasing the treble at that point in the day but a joyous occasion for the anchors who couldn’t come out of the group last year.

“Not getting out of the group last year inspired us. We worked on certain things that helped us play in all conditions. We worked on our handling of the ball, playing in the right areas, and kicking for the goal because we were confident we could do it,” explained Ambrose Kakuru, one of the Namilyango coaches.

SMACK defeated Kings College Budo by 19-00 to claim the boys' U-15 title. They defeated Budo in the U-17 24-03 which left the U-20 final as the one that would complete the treble.
