Total market turnover during the year’s first trading week reached sh689m from three million shared that exchanged hands at the Uganda Securities Exchange.

Data from Crested Capital shows that Umeme topped the trading activity, exchanging sh552m in turnover followed by MTN with sh104m.

Stanbic dealt sh32.3m, Airtel Uganda traded sh940,000, and Uganda Clays Limited (UCL) moved sh88,400.

At the week’s close, only two counters had price movements – with Airtel Uganda being the top gainer with 0.26%, closing at sh94. MTN shed 0.32% to sh170.01 from the previous week’s close, while other counters remained unchanged, with Umeme at sh400, Stanbic at sh32, and UCL at sh13.

On the Cross–listings, KCB Group was the top gainer adding 5.14%, Equity Group Holdings advanced by 4.84%, East African Breweries Limited was up 4.61%, Jubilee Holdings Limited edged up 1.48%, Nation Media Group closed 1.06% higher, while Centum Investments dropped 1.81%.

The USE All Share Index (ALSI) gained 1.72% to close at 887.51, while the C11 – Crested’s local companies’ index was down 0.02% to 98.66.
