Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has apologised for failing to attend the recent royal wedding of Busoga King (Kyabazinga) William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV and Jovia Mutesi.

"I’m sorry that I did not attend it because I was with the President [that wedding day] monitoring roads in Kampala,” she said on Wednesday, November 29.

Nabbanja also congratulated Busoga Kingdom premier, who is also National Planning Authority executive director, Dr Joseph Muvawala, for co-ordinating the activities in preparation for Busoga’s first royal wedding since 1956.

“It was a well-managed wedding, so colourful," she said.

She made the remarks after opening a two-day seminar on modalities for joint system-wide evaluation of operational activities for the development of the UN system in Uganda at Mestil Hotel in Kampala.

The seminar is designed to evaluate the operational activities and interventions of the UN system in Uganda and it’s being guided by the current National Development Plan and the National Policy on Monitoring and Evaluation.

The King and the Queen exchanged vows before Church of Uganda Archbishop Dr Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu at Christ's Cathedral in Jinja city on November 18, 2023.

"This wedding has made a statement that this kingdom celebrates marriage. Even President Museveni and Janet at their 50th wedding anniversary made a statement that Uganda respects marriage,” Kaziimba told the congregation.

President Museveni was represented by Vice-President Jessica Alupo at the ceremony that was attended by politicians across the political aisle, top public figures and royalty from Uganda and beyond.
