"This is one of the major investments Umeme is undertaking to bolster Government’s electricity infrastructure agenda specifically to improve reliability and increase access to electricity this year.

Construction and upgrade of the Hoima Substation is on schedule. When completed in December 2023, the facility which is being upgraded to 20 from 6 MVA will ensure reliable electricity supply to the area and the surrounding," he added.

The National Electricity Grid now has about 1.9 million customers, and will hit 2 million customers by end of 2023 and 3 million when the Government Scale Up Programme kicks off in January 2023.
