Court of Appeal criminal session starts Monday in Arua

The two-day session will be presided over by a coram of three justices, namely, Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire, Lady Justice Irene Mulyagonja, and Lady Justice Eva K. Luswata.

The Court Of Appeal sitting at the Arua High Court will starting on Monday, November 20, hear 31 criminal cases. 

According to the cause list, 13 are murder cases, 13 defilement cases, and three of robbery among others. 

The two-day session will be presided over by a coram of three justices, namely, Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire, Lady Justice Irene Mulyagonja, and Lady Justice Eva K. Luswata. 

Among the notable cases to be handled by the Court include that of Droma John, Anyama Simon, Ambayo Simon, Aluma William, Igama Thomas, Opio Godfrey, Anyama Godfrey, Anyovi Simon Okpepke who were all convicted to 49 years in jail for murder in Arua in 2014. 

Others include Olwenyi Andrew, Agwata Quinto, Oryem Richard Okwir James, Okwir Denis, and Ocen George who were all convicted of 45 years imprisonment for murder in Lira in 2014, as well as Afedra Juliano who was convicted to life imprisonment for murder in Adjumani in 2012.
