In the peaceful town of Kiyindi, Buikwe district where life usually revolves around the tranquil waters and the soothing sounds of nature, chaos erupted when a shooting incident took place at 10:00am on August 8, 2023.

It all started when the in charge Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) chief Phenhas Muhanika attached to Kiyindi Police Station, received an unexpected phone call.

On the other end was 2nd Lt David Wabuche, a Uganda People Defence Forces soldier attached to the Fish Protection Unit and commander of the Kiyindi Detach. He had quite the story to tell.

According to the Ssezibwa region Police spokesperson Hellen Butoto, the soldier (Wabuche) stated that: During an operation to stop suspected illegal dealers of immature fish, he found himself face-to-face with Micheal Takule.

In the heat of the moment, Wabuche shot Takule in the left foot, according to Butoto.

She said that after the incident, the victim, Takule Michael, 40, was swiftly rushed to Makonge Health Centre III for treatment.

As a result, Wabuche has been arrested by Police, according to Butoto.
