KADAGA | NOVEMBER | PROTESTS
KAMPALA - The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has promised to help the family of a 15-year-old student who was shot dead by police during the November protests, to get justice.
The Speaker made the plea as she was meeting the mother Hajara Nakitto and her husband Meddie Semugenyi who petitioned her on Thursday.
Nakitto informed the speaker that she has failed to get justice from police following the death of their son Amos Ssegawa who was a senior two student at Lubiri High School.
She narrated the experience they went through after police made her exhume the body of her son to carry out a post mortem report which confirmed her son succumbed to gun shots and they had to foot the reburial expenses.
In a meeting that was attended by officer in charge of human rights in police Erasmus Twaruhuka, Kadaga directed police to trace for the security officer who shot Ssegawa using a footage from CCTV cameras and has questioned the delay by government to compensate families.
