Police in Kampala have arrested the newly elected Kawempe North constituency MP, Muhammad Ssegirinya, for carrying out an unlawful protest in Kampala city Monday.

Ssegirinya and five others arrived at Mini price, holding placards bearing messages demanding the release of the detained National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters.

Before they could proceed further, Police led by the OC Mini Price ASP, Flavia Musiimenta, intercepted them and arrested Ssegirinya.

He is currently detained at the Central Police station.
