There was a sombre mood at the headquarters of the Faith of Unity at Kapyemi in Muhorro town council, Kagadi district as the body of Owobusobozi Bisaka arrived from Nairobi.

The founder of the Faith of Unity passed away in Nairobi on January 14, but the family and Faith of Unity leaders kept it a secret until Saturday when they made the news of his death public.

The body was delivered at Kapyemi in a military helicopter after a downpour and was received by the Minister of State for Public Service, David Karubanga and the Kagadi Resident District Commissioner, Lillian Ruteraho. The body arrived at 4:16 pm and was immediately transferred into a Mbarara Medical and Cancer Centre ambulance that transported it to his multi-million shilling villa.

Karubanga described Owobusobozi Bisaka as an icon in development, who encouraged his followers to work hard to improve their household incomes and indeed most of them are prosperous.

“Owobusobozi was indeed a proponent of development and peace in the region and country and we have lost an important person as government,” he said.

Karubanga said the Government will accord him an official burial to acknowledge his contribution to the development of the country.

Ruteraho said since she was posted in the district in December 2018, Bisaka has been instrumental in fighting witchcraft and encouraging the followers to unite and work together to improve their livelihoods.

“As the name of the faith suggests, indeed Bisaka has been a unifier of all tribes and religions in the country and we shall miss him a lot,” she said.

Janepher Kyomuhendo Mbabazi, the Kagadi Woman MP, asked the Faith of Unity believers to remain firm in their faith and carry on the call from Owobusobozi Bisaka.

“Don’t be derailed from your faith because of the death of Owobusobozi Bisaka. Remain steadfast and united more than ever,” Kyomuhendo said.

Family members and faith of unity believers refused to talk to the press, saying the Government had taken over the management of all Bisaka’s burial arrangements.

Bisaka will be laid to rest on Sunday, according to the programme released by the Office of the Prime Minister.
