KOTIDO - Bishop Dominic Eibu has Saturday been consecrated and installed as the bishop of Kotido Diocese at the celebrations held at St. Daniel Comboni Primary School.

Vice President Jessica Alupo presided over the function and represented President Yoweri Museveni.

Bishop Eibu replaced Filippo Giseppe and the Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, Archbishop Luigi Bianco was in attendance with a host of several bishops and Archbishops.

Who is Bishop Eibu

A last born in a family of nine siblings, Bishop Eibu was raised by his elder brother, John Michael Engwaru, a retired police officer.

Engwaru revealed that bishop Eibu loved hunting but remained a bright child throughout his education cycle.

“I’m proud of him and I am grateful to God that He has elevated him. My efforts to pay his fees have not been in vain, glory be to God,” Engwaru said.

Bishop Eibu’s appointment got him serving at sacred hearts church Sakakini in Cairo. He returned to prepare for his consecration where he lived in the Soroti diocese that groomed him.

He replaces Bishop Giuseppe Filippi who reached the canonical age limit.

Education background

He obtained his Uganda Certificate of Education at Moroto High School in 1990 and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education at Apostles of Jesus Seminary, Moroto, in 1993.

Priesthood Ordination, Lwala, Soroti, 15th August 2002 by the Bishop of Soroti Erasmus Desiderius Wandera. 

Wandera died last year in December after meeting him.

Wandera did not live to witness today’s consecration as he did with Eciru in Soroti three years ago.
