He was the star of private FM stations in Uganda, swept in by the early 90s liberalisation of the airwaves that ushered in the Capital FMs and Sanyu Radios of this city.

Veteran Radio presenter, Alex Munyantos Ndawula, popularly known as DJ Alex, has died.
Ndawula, who was aged 59 years, passed on at Nsambya Hospital where he was admitted on Monday June 6, 2022.
Patricia Osman, a Capital FM news anchor and producer, confirmed the veteran media personality's death.
“A legend has gone to sleep. Rest in Peace radio legend. Sleep well. We shall forever celebrate you,” Osman said.
By press time, details of the cause of Ndawula’s death remained unclear even though sources said he had been admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Ndawula first appeared on Capital FM in 1995 and his sharp voice and focus saw him dominate the country's airwaves, especially on the Capital FM's breakfast show. He would later present the DJ Alex’s “Dance Force” which aired every Saturday.
Ndawula served the station for 23 years and presented the Dance Force (every Saturday at 8:00pm till late) and Sundowner (every weekday at 6:00pm to 7:00pm) host.
In 2017, Ndawula announced his retirement, which saw Willliam Pike, the managing director of Capital FM gift him a brand new Toyota Prado and a sh30m cheqube as a retirement package.
