Shock has gripped Masaka City after a top hotel proprietor, Antanansi Bazeketa, was Saturday, May 21 found dead in one of his hotel rooms. 

Bazeketa, 75, is one of the owners of Maria-Flo Hotel.

The hotel staff raised concern after the deceased took a long time to leave his room.

"Our boss normally wakes up early. We found it strange that by 8am he had not contacted any of the managers. We found him dead to our shock," one of the staff said. 

The body of the deceased was found in the hotel bathroom in a pool of blood, according to hotel sources.

Dr Bulasio Kabugo, the Director Bulamu Hospital rushed to the hotel to handle the matter.

The New Vision has learnt that the deceased was suffering from high blood pressure and heart-related illnesses.

The deceased who hails from Bulando village in Masaka district has been a prominent businessman and a close friend of the Katikiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga.  

On Tuesday May 17) (Mayiga visited the deceased at his hotel where they also convened the Buganda Youth Council for two days.

The Masaka deputy RCC, Ahmed Kateregga, told New Vision that the deceased was among his senior advisors on Masaka City affairs.
