Busitema University will host the first edition of the Federation of East African University Sports Women’s (FEAUS) competition from Friday to Sunday at the campus in Busia.

This tournament will offer many players the opportunity to compete against better teams, so the players must treat this as an opportunity.

Busitema has many teams ready to compete, but their football is an amalgamation of the best players from their university campuses. For Captain Zanerah Kemigisha, this is an opportunity to do well and hopefully, end up in the elite league.

"To us, it means a lot because at Busitema University, we have never had such an event and it’s going to be something that is going to open us up to the football market because we have good players and we believe if people come here and watch us, it allows us to showcase our talent,” she said.

Realistically, Kemigisha knows she can get to the top but only if she could get to a Kampala-based team in the Elite League. Luckily, she is in her fourth year, and if she were to perform well, it would give her the chance to play with the best.

“We are many of us who want to play professional football but because we are in the village, and we are not exposed, we don’t get enough time on the ball but this will give us a chance to get seen,” she explained.

Even her coach Ronald Lumala is taking advantage of this opportunity to give his players a fighting chance.

“As You know, this is a multipurpose University, so I travelled to all the six campuses to select the best players to compete,”  Lumala said.

Even though they risk coming up against big teams such as UCU and Makerere, they remain sure they will get the victory.
