The Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) has suspended a total of 65 athletes over misconduct.

The suspension that was announced on Saturday afternoon was sanctioned on grounds of failure to surface for requisite trials and other related misbehavior.
UAF director of competitions, Faustino Kiwa announced the development of New Vision Sports.

“These are athletes who either failed to compete after registration for the ongoing national trials.

Other grounds were failure to clear competition fees arrears, and failure to register before the deadline day.

“This ban has an implication of a two-trial consecutive suspension.

“Some of the athletes affected registered twice and failed to turn up for the last two trials,” Kiwa revealed.

Kiwa, who doubles as a qualified coach advanced: “The reason we decided to start suspending athletes is that; failure to turn-up even after registration messes up with the start-list.”

The alarming list of those suspended includes; UPDF’s Rebecca Cheptegei, Prison’s Philip Kiplimo, Allan Kiprotich of Arise and Shine club, Brenda Aciro ((UPA) and Victor Kwemoi of Uganda Police.

Tuku Africa club’s Captain Tony Omara, team-mates; Justin Ojok and Robin Ocen are all barred.

Prisons’ Geofrey Nyeko, Zamura Chebet, and Philip Kiplimo are banned.

Police’s Geofrey Onen, Victor Kwemoi, and Elisha Chemutai will not run again until the next two trials are over.

For the UWA Athletics club; Joshua Ajalu, Leonard Kiprop, John Katerega, Shafiq Kirano, Denis Sali, Eliot Siwa and Silus Boch are all punished.

Makerere University Athletics Club has the biggest number which includes their talented runners; Chelsea Muhwezi, Glenn Otieno, Keith Katooro, Ronald Murungi, David Akera, Onesmimus Cheptoek among others.

Mbarara Municipality club has a couple of athletes too, some of whom are David Akera, Rodgers Abitekaniza, Innocent Twinamasiko, and Nancy Tikone.

Interdictions extend to the runners of Inzikuru Sports Academy, Rise and Shine, Standard High School, Lukungu Academy, and Gulu University.

Gombe, Kiboga, Amuria, Kyambogo University, Tela Field Club are the other clubs with penalized professional athletes.
