The former human rights commissioner, Fr Simon Lokodo died of Covid-19.

This was revealed by an official working at the Ugandan Embassy in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mary Namono, the accounting officer at the Ugandan embassy in Geneva, said Lokodo was admitted to a university hospital with breathing difficulty. 

"When a rapid test was conducted, it turned positive," she said.

Fr. Lokodo died at the age of 64 in the Swiss capital Geneva on Saturday, January 29 where he had gone to present Uganda’s universal periodic review process.
