Parliament's appointments committee is scheduled to vet the newly appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Katsigazi, on Friday.

Katsigazi was appointed on January 20, replacing the late Lt. Gen. Paul Lokech, who died in August last year (2021).

According to the programme, Katsigazi is scheduled to face the committee chaired by Speaker Jacob Oulanyah at 10:30 am at the Parliament building.

The committee will also vet the reappointment of the Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr Johnson Byabashaija, who has served at the helm of the institution since 2005.

The committee will also vet the newly appointed board of directors of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, Innocent Kihika and Adrian Mulindwa Bukenya.

The two replace Kiwanuka Kiryowa, who was appointed Attorney General, and the late Prof. Nobel Banadda, who succumbed to COVID-19 in 2021.
