Uganda readies more Kawuku fuel reservoirs

FUEL | RESERVOIRS | MUKULA 

WAKISO - Captain Mike Mukula, the chairman Mahathi Infra Uganda Limited on Friday visited Kawuku fuel terminal and Lake Victoria fuel Transportation facility that are set to operate in March.

Speaking after touring the facility, Mukula said the facility has 14 fuel reservoirs and each tank stores 900 million liters and the two fuel badgers have the capacity to carry 4.5 million liters of various fuel products per ship at any given time.

The 70 million facility which is sitting on 30 acres of land near Lake Victoria at Kawuuku Bugiri-Bukasa village, Katabi Town Council in Wakiso district was commissioned in June 2017 by President Yoweri Museveni.

Addressing delegates, President Museveni expressed delight that the plant will transform the country by lowering the costs of fuel.

“It is going to be good business for the investors but also help the country at large. The project will be able to save 50% of the costs we incur in using the road to transport fuel from Kenya to Kampala,” President Museveni said

Mukula who also doubles as the Vice Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Eastern Uganda said the ship will do the first run by the end of March.
