The Catholic Church has tightened security at churches following the recent Kampala twin bombings.

During mass at Sacred Heart of Mary Cathedral at Lubaga vehicle access was restricted to church premises 100 meters away from the main church.

Christians who would arrive for mass would go through metal detector machines to ascertain whether they were not carrying any explosives or other weapons.

Security officers were seen conducting body searches on every Christian and their bags.

The turnout was good as Kampala Archdiocese joined the Catholic Church to celebrate Catholic Men’s Guild Day. The day is celebrated annually in remembrance of their patron, St Joseph Balikuddembe, who was killed on the orders of Kabaka Mwanga at Nakivubo where St Balikuddembe Market is situated.

While preaching Archbishop Kasujja who moved to Rubaga one month ago, tasked men to guide children into responsible citizens and show love to them. “Men you are the head of the families and you have to fulfill the responsibilities God gave us as head of the family,” Archbishop Kasujja added.

He asked parents to raise their children as responsible people, “Men you are the head of the families, raise well your children.”

The prelate also stressed the need for men as heads of families to propagate faith among the children and urged them to lead by excellent conduct in front of them.

He thanked the men's guild led by Dr. George William Ssekanjakko for the good work they are doing.

However, Dr. Ssekanjakko, in charge of the men's guild, challenged men to shun weakness and participate in church leadership
