The leader of Opposition in Parliament, Mathias Mpuuga, has asked Parliament to intervene in the health condition of MP Muhammad Ssegirinya.

Speaking on Tuesday afternoon, Mpuuga told Parliament that Ssegirinya is not just sick but ill.

"Ssegirinya's health is not good, and his doctors have not been involved. I appeal to you to make a humanitarian intervention and consider other options," Mpuuga told the deputy speaker Anita Among, who was chairing the House.

In response, Among assured Mpuuga that Parliament is ready to do whatever it takes including flying Ssegirinya abroad for treatment.

"We await the way forward from the Government on the matter," Among said.

Among also told the House that Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister, herself and Mpuuga would visit Ssegirinya to assess his health condition for a way forward.
