The Orthodox Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, His Divine Beatitude Theodore II, performed several interesting functions.

One of them was the meritorious awarding of the two Orthodox legislators, Hon. Theodore Ssekikubo (Lwemiyaga County) and Hon. Helen Nakimuli (the Kalangala district woman MP).

The Pope gave an ecclesial medal to the two legislators, in recognition of their exemplary service to the Orthodox Church, the country and humanity.

The function was one of the activities of the memorial mass of the late Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga, which the Pope celebrated at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, Namungoona on October 17.

Nakimuli, a daughter of an Orthodox priest, says her recognition by the Pope has rejuvenated her commitment to the service of the Church, the country and humanity.

Hon. Ssekikubo also says he will continue to be the vindicator of the poor and the oppressed.
