The ministry of finance has warned members of the public of fraudsters who are attempting to extort money from them with an assurance that they will be appointed as board members of Bank of Uganda (BoU).

The public notice issued by the finance ministry permanent secretary, Ramathan Ggoobi, on Monday said criminals purport to be calling from their ministry and they ask their victims to pay money to help them process diplomatic passports to suit the requirement for the appointment.

The notice also said the fraudsters ask their victims to send their academic documents to the ministry email: finance@finance.go.ug.

“Members of the public are hereby notified and warned against the fraudsters. Please report any such fraudsters to the nearest police station,” the ministry implored.
