In a letter to all staff, Judiciary Permanent Secretary Pius Bigirimana noted that “the President is expected to preside over the occasion. Because of security details, I wish to advise that all the staff working in the High Court on that day should work from home. Those who will find it necessary to come to the office should come in after 2:00 pm. Those who have been invited to the function should undergo Covid-19 tests and if not, they have been advised to operate from home.”

Today's celebration marks 49 years since the incident took place and the event will be held scientifically with few guests in attendance.

Chief Registrar Sarah Langa Siu, while addressing the media at the High Court on Friday, September 22, noted that the day is held to commemorate the chief justice's respect for the rule of law and observance of the Human Rights which he paid for with his life.

She also noted that there will be a launch of a book entitled 'Administration and Justice throughout the years' written by former Chief Justice Samuel Wako Wambuzi who succeeded Kiwanuka.

Judiciary will also give out the Ben Kiwanuka life Achievement Awards to members of the Judiciary who have fostered the rule of law.
