The 6th memorial lecture of former chief justice Benedicto Kagimu Mugumba Kiwanuka kicked off this morning (Thursday)  with a procession led by Chief Justice Owiny Dollo.

The lecture is under the theme Enhancing judicial accountability, transparency and the rule of law

Kiwanuka was abducted by gunmen from his chambers at the High Court in Kampala during President Idi Amin’s administration on September 21, 1972, and his whereabouts remain unknown to date.

President Yoweri Museveni is expected to preside over the memorial lecture for the icon of the rule of law, while retired Supreme Court judge Jotham Tumwesigye will give the keynote address.
