PALLISA - Muko Samwiri, 49, a resident of Osupa village, Pallisa town council lost his life after he was referred to Soroti Hospital.

Mutwalib Aziz, a relative, says Samwiri would have not died had there been oxygen at Pallisa Hospital or an ambulance on standby.

Dr Godfrey Mulekwa, the district health officer, said although the hospital has no oxygen facility, a number of patients have been treated and discharged.

“We have so far managed to discharge 60 COVID-19 patients,” he said. Mulekwa urged locals to observe standard operating procedures to curb the spread of the virus.

Dhikusoka Magidu, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, appealed for support from organisations within the district. The district has 213 cases, with 56 recoveries and 11 dead.
