Victoria University vaccinates students and staff against COVID-19

Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga upon receiving his jab, said the university wants to ensure 100% vaccination for both students and staff, to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone.

After a recent spike in COVID-19 cases at university campuses, Victoria University has begun vaccinating its students and staff.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga upon receiving his jab, said the university wants to ensure 100% vaccination for both students and staff, to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone.

“We hope that the entire campus population is vaccinated,” said Muganga.

He said 80% of the students have already been vaccinated and that 97% of staff have also received their jabs.

“Our students and staff have become safer themselves as well as their families and communities and country. We are proud of this initiative.”

Institutions of learning are reporting a surge in COVID-19 cases, and are urging their communities to stay vigilant. Kyambogo University alone has so far recorded 50 positive cases of Covid-19, Vice-Chancellor Prof Elly Katunguka has said.

The University has as a result suspended physical learning and ordered online learning.
