GEN. KATUMBA | ASSASSINITAION | DEATH 

KAMPALA - Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala who on Tuesday morning survived an assassination attempt that saw his daughter and driver dead has said God has given him a second chance.

In a brief video message recorded at Medipal Hospital, Katumba who was surrounded by close family members said, “all my children, I will be fine. I have survived. We have lost Brenda. But that is God’s plan. She had nothing. She did nothing to this world but the bad guys have done it,” Katumba said.

He further noted that, “God has given me a second chance. I will pull through. Don’t worry, I don’t have bad injuries only the arms but I will be fine. I am with the doctors and they are doing everything possible. I love you guys. Please pray for mummy. She is in a terrible state,” Katumba said.

Four armed assailants who were travelling on a motorcycle attacked Gen. Katumba’s car and sprayed it with bullets killing his daughter and driver on the spot. 

The incident took place between 8:45am and 9:00am at Kisota Road in Kisaasi. Katumba’s daughter, Brenda Nantongo and driver, Haruna Kayondo died on the spot and the General survived but with gunshot wounds.

The Chief of Defence Forces Gen. David Muhoozi was among the senior army officers who immediately visited the scene.
