Rwakakamba appointed new Uganda Investment Authority boss

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Morris Rwakakamba as the new board chairman for the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA).

Rwakakamba replaces Dr Emily Kugonza whose term expired.

Morrison previously served as the Special Presidential Assistant – Research and Information (2011 to 2017) and as country program manager for Twaweza East Africa (2010 to 2013).

He was also the CEO of the Uganda Chamber of Commerce and Industry (2007 to 2011) and resident consultant and manager policy research Uganda National Farmers Federation (2003 to 2006).

Rwakakamba holds a Master’s in Public Administration in Management, Political Science and Government obtained from the Harvard Kennedy School.

Following confirmation of his appointment, Rwakakamba took to Twitter to tout his plans for the Authority.

"I thank H.E President @KagutaMuseveni for the confidence. Thank you Finance Minister Matia Kasaija and Investment Minister Anite Evelyn for the trust. Like I told the President today, we shall continue to re-fashion UIA as an activist & service entity for investors and driver for jobs," he said.

Rwakakamba also thanked Dr Kugonza for mentoring him.

Following his appointment on Wednesday, Rwakakamba wasted no time and was part of the delegation that accompanied the President at the commissioning of six factories in Namanve.

To date, Uganda Investment Authority has licenced over 4200 factories involved in the manufacturing of a range of products such as transformers, textiles, food processing among others.
