Tarehe Sita: Makindye military soldiers fumigate surroundings

The exercise will continue around Makindye until the celebrations are held.

The Military Police in Makindye have carried out a cleaning exercise in surrounding areas as part of activities to mark the February 6 Tarehe Sita celebrations.

Capt Amos Nsamba, the spokesperson Makindye Military Police, said they had done this in an effort to strengthen UPDF relation with the civilian community.

"The Uganda People's Defence Forces have been involved in various activities and we are still continuing with the activities up to February, emphasizing hygiene within the community," Nsamba added.

UPDF as an institution have involved themselves in various activities around the country as they prepare for the 40th celebrations to be held in Masaka.

Soldiers cleaning parts of Makindye

 

Diriisa Kawuma, the local council chairperson of Kanakulya Zone in Makindye, applauded the UPDF, especially military police for the great work done. The soldiers also fumigated surrounding areas.

The exercise was done in the zones of Kanakulya, Nkere, Nabisaalu and Kapeke. The soldiers also gave out masks, mosquito nets and condoms as well as clean trenches.

The exercise will continue around Makindye until the celebrations are held.
