DEATH
Police in Kampala are investigating the death of Ugandan professional boxer Isaac Zebra Ssenyange, who was gunned down Tuesday night at his home in Bwaise, Kawempe division.
Also fondly known as Mando, Ssenyange was 39.
Police later reached the scene in Bugalani zone in Bwaise III and took his body to the City Mortuary at Mulago as investigations into his death got under way.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the death of Ssenyange, a former captain of Uganda's national boxing team, and promised to give a detailed statement in the course of the day.
The murdered boxer's wife told residents that the people who killed her husband knocked on his door and upon opening, shot him several times.
They are at large and their motive unknown.
Charles Muhangi, the President of the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF), said he is "saddened" by Ssenyange's death.
"Am saddened by the brutal passing of my man, my friend, my everything. Till we meet again," he posted on social media.
