PALLISA - Hardly one week after Simon Opio, a resident of Omorio village in Pallisa district was suspected to have killed 15-year-old Esther Isoto, his girlfriend, another murder incident has been reported.

James Olade, a resident of Nyakoi village in Pallisa, was reportedly killed by his stepsons.

Umar Mugerwa, the Pallisa district Police commander, said they are tracking the suspects who include Henry Odeke, Chagayo, Awoloi and David Tukei.

Mugerwa said in less than one week, they have registered two murders of people hacked to death.

He said Olade had been in Police custody in connection with the death of his brother, Simon Amuya, whose grave was found with blood.

So when a Police sniffer dog was used, it went directly to Olade's residence, which sparked suspicion.

"He was given Police bond but it is unfortunate that he was killed as Police was investigating the murder allegations," he said.

Henry Omukule, the LC1 chairperson of Nyakoi village, said when he got the information, he rushed to the scene, where he found burning huts.

Omukule said he had on Saturday gone to Olade's residence to summon him to appear before the clan elders meeting and have their differences resolved.

This was aimed at ensuring lasting peace between him and the family of his late brother, but he declined to attend.

"I am disappointed because our village in the entire district ranks top in murder. Since 2003, we have registered nine killings," Omukule said.

Florence Akello, the wife to the deceased, said the suspects stormed their compound with pangas.
