The Principal of Makerere University Business School, Waswa Balunywa has asked local universities and all institutions of higher learning to adopt modern technologies as a strategy for effective transformation of communities and the world.
He also asked the government to rethink its role in education.
He further called upon the government to re-introduce technical education in primary schools and also, to do more to modernise agriculture as a strategy for improving the employability of the country's graduates.
Balunywa also challenged university students to be creative and innovative in order to prevail over the contemporary employment challenges.
He was delivering a commencement lecture for the virtual graduation ceremony of Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi (UMU).
The virtual commencement lecture took place at Makerere University Business School, Nakawa on Thursday, December 17.
The 26th Graduation ceremony of UMU will take place at the university's main campus in Mpigi district on Friday, December 18.
