Mukono diocese gets 16 clerics, 41 lay readers

Bishop Ssebaggala congratulated the newly-ordained clerics and asked the Christians to give them the necessary moral and material support.

RELIGION 

The Anglican diocese of Mukono has got 13 new priests. They were ordained by Bishop James William Ssebaggala at St Phillips and Andrew's Cathedral, Mukono on Sunday (December 13).

Ssebaggala also ordained and commissioned three deacons and 41 lay readers, respectively.

The newly ordained priests include Rev Daniel Kizito, Rev David Kuteesa, Rev Bernard Ssendagire, Rev David Toko, Rev Esau Zziwa, Rev Moses Kafuluma, Rev William Kiggundu, Rev Samuel Matovu, Rev Mesach Matovu and Edward Ssebalabye.

The new deacons include Agnes Mariam Kayaga and Alex Paul Ssekabembe.

Prior to their ordination, the new clerics had a weeklong retreat with Rev Dunstan Busuulwa Kiwanuka Mazinga and his wife, the Rev Lovincer Nalusiba Kiwanuka.

Delivering his homily during the function, Rev Dunstan Kiwanuka asked the newly ordained ministers of the Church to do their work love and total commitment, always putting their trust in God who called them into the ministry.

He also asked them to work in unity and solidarity with their fellow ministers and the lay Christians, for the greater glory of God and His kingdom.

The Prelate also asked the Christians to support the priestly candidates during their training at Uganda Christian University and at Uganda Martyrs Seminary Namugongo.
