IUEA graduates warned against rioting

Over 2000 students were awarded certificates, diplomas, and degrees

Graduates have been warned not to participate in riots as this can stain their image as well as that of the universities where they were trained.

"It looks bad to see a university graduate on the street burning used tyres and shops. This not only gives a bad image to the person but also the university," George Mutekanga, the assistant commissioner, for private schools in the ministry of education and sports warned.

Mutekanga was speaking during the 7th graduation ceremony of the International University of East Africa (IUEA) on Friday where over 2000 students were awarded certificates, diplomas, and degrees.

He said as a graduate, his or her values matter and that no organisation wants to employ chaotic people.

"Come knowing that the world is competitive and when your acts are not good, then you have no space for opportunities."

"You are the alumni of this university. In 10 to 30 years to come, we want to see the university grow and excel," he added.

Mutekanga who represented the minister of state for higher education, applauded the university's management for the ten-year journey of skilling the nations.

He noted that as the university goes online, let them maintain the standard and focus on research as well as discovering the challenges that affect the community.

The graduation ceremony was presided over by Ambassador Moses Kiwe Sebunya who applauded the government for stable peace that has enabled the university to achieve its goals.

IUEA vice chancellor Dr Emeka Akaezuwa noted that for ten years the university has managed to achieve big innovations.
