KAMPALA - The State Minister for Microfinance Haruna Kasolo has warned Ugandans against mixing politics with business.

"In order to have a successful business, you should desist mixing it with politics, be organised with entrepreneurship skills to have successful businesses," Kasolo said.

Kasolo made the remarks on Friday (December 11, 2020) while meeting business people operating at Ggaba landing site in Kampala on how to access Emyooga funds from the government.

He explained that business people should learn to save their money to expand to big capital, saying that many who indulge capital in politics have suffered instead of prospering.

He said in 2018 after the tour of President Yoweri Museveni in the countryside, he discovered people would not develop due to a lack of capital to boost their businesses.

"You cannot say you wake up early morning to come on the landing site and go away without money. You must learn to work to improve your life than putting the blame on President Museveni," he said.

He said that is why the government came up to promote communities by urging them to form circles in relation to nature of their work.

"Government is going to do the registration freely and each circle formed will be given sh30m non-refundable to top up on their savings," Kasolo said.

He said if 2000 people saved their money at the end of the year, this would raise sh2bn for Ggaba landing site and added on what they will receive from emyooga, it would raise their capital.

Gabriel Musisi, the chairman Ggaba landing site told the minister that they are tired of politicians who have turned the landing site into a political field.

Musisi said this has affected their operation of work besides the problems they face.
