Mayambala says he is sick, did not show up in Gulu for campaigns

Mayambala says he took a malaria test, which turned out negative, although he had severe headache and fever.

Presidential candidate Willy Mayambala did not proceed for his campaigns in northern Uganda on today (Tuesday November 8). He was expected in Gulu and Kitgum.

He says he felt sick and went to Mukono Health Centre where he was given drugs and told to take a rest.

Mayambala says he took a malaria test, which turned out negative, although he had severe headache and fever.

He says the doctor at the health centre gave him Panadol and wrote for him other drugs to get in a private pharmacy, saying they were not available in the government health facility.

Mayambala says this state of affairs has increased his resolute to campaign for the top seat in the country. "How can drugs be available in private health facilities and they are not in public facilities? This is why I want to be president so that I solve this problem. Citizens should access drugs whenever they need them," he said.

Mayambala who has campaigned in less than 15 of the more than 140 districts of Uganda, says as soon as he feels fine, he will resume his campaigns. He says he will be heading to Lira if he feels better tomorrow.

The presidential candidate says health service delivery is one of his core goals he will handle when he becomes president.
