Namirembe diocese gets four canons

They were inaugurated by Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira during a scientific function at Namirembe Cathedral on Sunday (December 06, 2020).

The four Canons of Namirembe diocese that were appointed and approved by the diocesan synod on October 27, have been officially commissioned and installed.

They were inaugurated by Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira during a scientific function at Namirembe Cathedral on Sunday (December 06, 2020).

They are: Rev Canon John Gitta Kavuma (the Archdeacon of Entebbe), Rev Canon Isaac Membe Kijjambu (Archdeacon of Mengo), Rev Michael Wasswa Ssentamu (Deputy Principal of Uganda Martyrs Seminary Namugongo) and Canon Godfrey BK Buwembo, the Archdeacon of Nateete.

During the same function, Luwalira also ordained three priests and five Deacons.

The priests include Rev Julius Matovu, Rev Edward Kamoga and Rev George Nkonge. The newly ordained Deacons include Rev Deacon John John Nkuubi, Deacon Samuel Ssekubunga, Deacon Gerald Ssennabulya, Deacon Abraham Kato and Deacon Maxwell Ssebuggwawo.

Bishop Luwalira asked the newly ordained priests and deacons to be faithful and fully devoted to their ministry. He also put it to the newly-commissioned Canons to be exemplary in their leadership, spiritual and moral disposition.
