CELEBRATING LIFE | SHEIK MUZAATA
Muslims who gathered at Kibuli Mosque on Saturday to pray for their vocal cleric Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata have said his unwavering adherence to Islamic teachings kept their administration at Kibuli on track.
They said Muzaata not only strengthened the administration in faith but also ensured its expansion in terms of mosques and schools.
"Muzaata was critical about corruption, injustice, torture of suspects regardless of their faith and other socio-political transgressions," the head of Sharia department at Islamic University in Uganda, Dr Abdul Hafiz Walusimbi told New Vision.
Sheikh Yasin Kiweewa, one of Muzaata's close friends, appealed to mourners at the mosque not to speculate about his death which he said is a preserve of God.
"Nobody killed Sheikh Muzaata, except Allah. Let's just pray that Allah grants him Paradise. I also request whoever he wronged to forgive him because it is human to wrong," he said.
He condemned those excited about his death saying they should wait for their turn.
In his message read by Hajji Hamis Kakomo, Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga described Muzaata as a great scholar and a human rights advocate with humility.
He prayed to God to grant him Paradise.
