In Bududa on Friday, Robert Kyagulanyi stood on top of his vehicle - as he has been doing at all his campaign rallies - and urged all young voters to show up droves on polling day.

PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS

The National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi has appealed to all registered voters to turn up and vote on polling day (January 14, 2021), particularly rallying young people to "make history" in next year's vote.

Addressing his first rally on Friday in Bududa district in eastern Uganda, where he reached at 11:30am local time, Kyagulanyi voiced his confidence, telling the locals who had gathered to listen to his message that he is headed for victory.

Arguing that all power belongs to the people as per the Constitution of Uganda, Kyagulanyi appealed to Ugandans to overwhelmingly vote his biggest challenger, NRM presidential flagbearer and incumbent Yoweri Museveni, out of power.

"Museveni has never got a challenger like me. That is, I want to assure you that Museveni is on the way out," said the NUP leader.

Musician-turned-politician Kyagulanyi, who is better known by his music stage name Bobi Wine, is also the sitting Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East, a position he took up in 2017 following a by-election.

At his rally in Bududa, Kyagulanyi stood on top of his vehicle - as he has been doing at all his campaign rallies - flanked by Manjiya County MP John Baptist Nambeshe, also a NUP member. He said every vote makes a difference.

He urged the young people, including boda boda riders, to carry the old and sick to the polling stations to vote on the day of election early next year. He further asked voters not to leave their respective polling stations until vote counting is over.

"Encourage everyone to vote. As young people of Uganda, let us make history on the voting day," rallied Kyagulanyi, who is running for president alongside 10 other candidates.

Meanwhile, on his way to Kapchorwa for another rally, Kyagulanyi's vehicle got a mechanical problem and required some members of his team to step in.

Resolving the mechanical fault required a couple of hands - and a jerrycan too.

The rest of Kyagulanyi's entourage had to exercise patience as his vehicle was being worked on.
